SiouxWIRE is about my journey through art spanning both high and low brow across disciplines. Along the way, I will introduce and interview artists, showcase works of interest, and occasionally comment on issues relating to contemporary art. The site is entirely non-commercial.
I don't consider myself in any way to be an expert of any kind. Still, I hope my exploration will be of some inspiration or assistance to others. I also want to encourage artists to explore beyond their niches of class or discipline and to do this, there will be a juxtaposition of established artists and outsiders, combinations of high tech art and lo-fidelity crafts, natural and artificial.
Background? I attended the School of Visual Arts in New York and learned the fundamentals of photography at The Evergreen State College. Living in London for most of my life, I took advantage of the wide variety of exhibitions on offer but it wasn't until recently that the dust of youth started to settle and some clarity of vision opened up new doors.
Though I will on occasion illustrate some posts with my own work, they will by no means be the focus. For my personal work (should you be morbidly curious), you can visit Noodles or Saatchi Online.
And if you enjoy the site, have any suggestions or want to recommend any artists, please leave a comment and let me know.
